OUR SENIOR PASTOR
ELDER MARCUS W. BECKHAM
Elder Marcus W. Beckham is the Senior Pastor of the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church of Morgan Park. He has an intense desire to serve God with all his heart, mind, body and soul. Born and raised in the fear and admonition of the Lord, he received salvation through Christ Jesus along with the gift of the Holy Ghost at a very young age. In response to these life-altering events, Elder Beckham experienced proliferated spiritual growth that catapulted him into ministering the word of God at a very young age. Since 1991, he has been working adamantly in his ministry, spreading the Gospel to all and providing godly service to his communities. Alongside pastoring, Elder Beckham is married to First Lady Wanda A. Beckham, with whom he parents two daughters, Ciara & Kailyn.
To know him is to love him. Those that know him will tell you that his talk has always been more than spiritual. His style is intensely his own. Elder Beckham offers a practical demonstration of both hope and compassion. With surgical precision Elder Beckham dissects and disseminates the Word of God resulting in unprecedented growth and spiritual expansion. His intense desire from an in-depth exploration of spiritual truth; his intellectual and scriptural approach stimulates the intellect of people in all areas of life. His unique and diverse oratory skills make ministries openly welcome him as he leaves an indelible mark on those that are seeking and searching for answers in either their natural or spiritual lives. Elder Beckham firmly believes that the church is to effectively minister to the needs of the people. From the streets to the pulpit, his unique flavor blazes most frequently on subjects that God birthed him to deal with. Those subjects include all matters derived from the whole counsel of God’s word. His sermons are certain to contain elements of grammatical commentaries and startling insights of God's word. Having a non-judgmental attitude has always been key in Elder Beckham's efforts to assist people in reaching their destiny. It has enabled him to build bridges, reach denominations, generations, all genders, races, culture, and ethnicity. Elder Beckham also demonstrates great care for the souls and welfare of people. His passion is to ensure all are edified in their faith and successful in their lives. His catchphrase has been noted as “Be encouraged.”
On August 25, 1991, Beckham was licensed to preach at the Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church. His heart to serve in ministry pushed him to not only work in the pulpit, but to engage in the affairs of all ministries and auxiliaries of the church. In November of 1999, Beckham was ordained as an Elder in the Lord's Church.
In 2001, Elder Beckham was installed as the Pastor at the New St. John Community Missionary Baptist Church. Throughout those 18 years, the Lord allowed him to lead, teach, empower and reform New St. John for the better of the church and the glory of God. In his time there, New St. John experienced renovation to the facility, the implementation of several ministries, evangelism and community service efforts, reformation to the worship experience, loans paid in full and much more. In the completion of his pastoral assignment at New St. John, the Lord presented Elder Beckham with the new assignment to relocate his ministry to the south side of Chicago at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church of Morgan Park. After much prayer and consideration, Elder Beckham accepted the invitation to lead this flock into the next phase God has aligned for us.
In addition to his pastoral ministry, Elder Beckham has the heart to serve his community. His desire to serve all mankind led him to join Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated. In this fraternity, he has been challenged with the task of mentoring, training and guiding young men in their various walks of life. First of All, Servants of All, We Shall Transcend All.
Elder Beckham is indeed a force to be reckoned with and a beacon of light to this generation. A unique anointing has been placed on him that is undeniable and irrevocable. What God has placed on the inside of him, no man can take it away!
